Short domain names or long ones?
Taken in isolation this question is a 'no-brainer': the shorter the better. Why? Because the name is likely to be easier to remember, but.....
But you do need to take the dot.com versus dot.co.za and the 'keywords' issues into account. It may be difficult to find a short domain name, especially the dot.com variety. And it often difficult to fit keywords into short names.
Search engines do not reward brevity of domain name but the printed media do! For example, newspapers and magazines have short lines. Long domain names are often hyphenated creating reader confusion.
